  HeliosPaint on Microsoft Windows 



System Requirements

Windows 95, 98, 98SE, Me, 2000, NT, XP, 2003, Vista or Windows 7.

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 5.0 or greater.
If this is not installed on your computer, the Java download website will open in your browser when you try to run HeliosPaint.

Download Java for Microsoft Windows now.


Running HeliosPaint on Windows

  1. Download and save HeliosPaint.exe onto your computer.
  2. Double click on the HeliosPaint.exe file to launch HeliosPaint.


  HeliosPaint on Apple Mac OS X 



System Requirements

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 5.0 or greater.
(Note: Java should come pre-installed on Mac OS X).


Running HeliosPaint on Max Os X

  1. Download and save HeliosPaint.jar onto your computer.
  2. Double click on the HeliosPaint.jar file to launch HeliosPaint.
HeliosPaint can also be launched manually on Mac OS X as follows:
  1. Open a terminal window (e.g. via your Applications folder).
  2. Use "cd" commands to go to the folder containing the HeliosPaint.jar file.
  3. Launch HeliosPaint by entering the command "java -jar HeliosPaint.jar".


  HeliosPaint on Linux and Unix 



System Requirements

To run HeliosPaint on a Linux or Unix computer, you will need the following installed:
  • An X11 window system. This is a windows-based graphical user interface such as X Windows, GNOME, KDE, Xfce.
  • The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 5.0 or greater. If this is not installed on your Linux or Unix computer, first visit the Java download website to download and run the installer for your platform (or for Linux Ubuntu follow these instructions).

Running HeliosPaint on Linux/Unix

  1. Download and save HeliosPaint.jar onto your computer.
  2. Right-click on the HeliosPaint.jar file screen icon and select "Open with Sun Java Runtime".
HeliosPaint can also be launched manually as follows:
  1. Open a terminal window.
  2. Use "cd" commands to go to the folder containing the HeliosPaint.jar file.
  3. Launch HeliosPaint by entering the command "java -jar HeliosPaint.jar", granting execute permissions first if needed.
