  HeliosPaint 1.7 on Microsoft Windows 



System Requirements

       Windows 8 Desktop
       Windows 7
       Windows Vista SP2
       Windows XP SP3 (32-bit); Windows XP SP2 (64-bit)
       Windows Server 2008


Running HeliosPaint on Windows

       Download and run the HeliosPaint.exe installer and follow the setup wizard.

If for some strange reason "HeliosPaint.exe" does not run on your Windows computer, you can download and run "HeliosPaint.jar" instead but you will also need to install Java (JRE) for Microsoft Windows.



  HeliosPaint 1.7 on Apple Mac OS X 



System Requirements

       Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 5 or higher.
       Mac OS X 10.6 and below: Java comes pre-installed with your Mac OS.
       Mac OS X 10.7.3 (Lion) and above: Java is not normally pre-installed.
       Please visit the Java download website to download and run the installer
       for Mac OS X 10.7.3 and above.


Running HeliosPaint on Max OS X
  1. Download and save HeliosPaint_MacOS.zip onto your computer.
  2. Unzip HeliosPaint_MacOS.zip.
  3. Double click on the HeliosPaint.jar file to launch HeliosPaint.

HeliosPaint can also be launched manually on Mac OS X as follows:
  1. Open a terminal window (e.g. via your Applications folder).
  2. Use "cd" commands to go to the folder containing the HeliosPaint.jar file.
  3. Launch HeliosPaint by entering the command
    "java -jar HeliosPaint.jar".


  HeliosPaint 1.7 on Linux or Unix 



System Requirements

To run HeliosPaint on a Linux or Unix computer, you will need the following installed:
  1. An X11 window system. This is a windows-based graphical user interface such as X Windows, GNOME, KDE, Xfce.
  2. Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 5 or higher. If this is not installed on your Linux or Unix computer, first visit the Java download website to download and run the installer for your platform.

Running HeliosPaint on Linux/Unix
  1. Download and save HeliosPaint.jar onto your computer.
  2. Attempt to right-click on the HeliosPaint.jar file screen icon and select "Open with Java Runtime" (this will be platform dependent).
HeliosPaint can also be launched manually as follows:
  1. Open a terminal window.
  2. Use "cd" commands to go to the folder containing the HeliosPaint.jar file.
  3. Launch HeliosPaint by entering the command
    "java -jar HeliosPaint.jar"
    or
    "./java -jar HeliosPaint.jar"
    granting execute permissions first if needed using command
    "sudo chmod 770 HeliosPaint.jar".
